Steam Product Activation and Betas
Product Key
If you have a product key for a pre-release of BraveSplat you can activate it at:
https://store.steampowered.com/account/registerkey
At Cornwell Game Lab, we assign version numbers to our builds, incrementing them each time we push a new build to Steam. As of this post, the default build is Brave Splat 0.7.3. By activating your product key, you will have access to the default version.
The default build is the oldest and most tested stable version of the game. There are newer versions, collectively termed Betas, which you can access by entering a code that we provide.
Beta Access Code
After activating the product with your product key, you can access betas by going to your Steam Library, right-clicking on the game, and selecting “Properties…” from the popup menu. In the left column, there will be an entry for Betas, which you can select to display the following form:
Once one or more private betas are unlocked, you can pick the branch you want from the dropdown labeled Beta Participation. You will be able to select any of the beta branches you have unlocked or switch back to the default. All available branches can be easily switched between.
Branches
We currently maintain three branches: default, alpha, and beta.
| Branch | Change Frequency | Description |
|---|---|---|
| default | days to weeks | oldest and most tested branch |
| beta | hours to days | stable enough for non-developer playtest |
| alpha | minutes to hours | development testing of new Steam builds |
